Britain’s national contemporary dance company returns to its partner theatre with a brand new programme of imaginative, ambitious and high quality dance, including an exciting new work, Awakenings. A collaboration between theatrical choreographer Aletta Collins and a newly commissioned score by celebrated American composer Tobias Picker, this is the first dance interpretation of Oliver Sacks’ book of the same name. Made famous by the 1990’s Hollywood film starring Robin Williams and Robert De Niro, Awakenings is a beautiful piece of dance full of high emotion, energy and drama.
Two further dance works will also be performed, including a rare chance to see the hypnotic RainForest, by the late American master of contemporary dance, Merce Cunningham, plus the gorgeously frantic The Art of Touch by Siobhan Davies.
With 22 of the world’s finest dancers and incredible live music from the Rambert Orchestra, the Company continues to be at the very heart of British dance.
‘Where contemporary dance is concerned, Rambert sets the standard for quality and diversity.’ The Times
